1. Teach Correctly

James 3:1-2
1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.
2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.

In Matthew 28:18-20, the Bible commands us to teach the people to obey every command of Jesus.

Matthew 28:18-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

As disciples God has entrusted us with teaching other people about the truth. We need to know how to do this correctly. What are some bad characters about some teachers we had in school? [They were Harsh, Bitter, Impatient, Rude. They claim to know what they teach but they don't really know it. They compromise and have no integrity. They do not care.]

Do you teach like a bad teacher when you study the Bible with people? As disciples we need to be good teachers who teach the Bible correctly. To learn to teach the Bible properly you have to get involved in studies. Do you initiate to sit in the study. Let us all decide to get involved in studies and learn from our disciplers on how to teach correctly.

2. Taming The Tongue

James 3:3-12
3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.
4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.
5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.
6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man,
8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.
10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.
11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?
12 My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

The tongue here refers to the words that we speak in our day to day lives. It is our speech that how and what we say. What we say sets the course of our lives. As disciples we need to control our speech and use our tongue to glorify God. Do you use your tongue for bad purposes like swearing, gossip, slander, harsh words, lying.

What are some ways we can use in a good way?
- Evangelize
- Honor others above ourselves
- Encourage others
- Share good news
- Correct with love
- Share our convictions from our Bible
- Speak the truth
- Speak kindly
- Study the Bible with people
- Speak with Zeal and joy

Mathew 12:36 says that we will be judged for every careless word we speak. Be careful with what you say and how you say it. We need to be serious about our speech.

Matthew 12:36
But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

3. Worldly Wisdom Leads To Death

James 3:13-16
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.
15 Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil.
16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

What are some ways that successful people in the world people use to go ahead? [Lie, they take advantage, they use people, they slander, gossip, put others down, focus only on themselves and not care for others.]

As disciples we can use worldly wisdom to achieve our goals.
- Do you envy other brother and sisters when they are doing well?
- Do you get pleasure when other disciples fail?
- Do you think of how you can make yourself look good to impress your disciplers so that he will praise you?
- Do you seek praise from men?

All these are examples of disciples with worldly wisdom. Vs 15 says that this wisdom is not spiritual but of the devil. If you are guilty of such wisdom, be open confess and repent of it. It will lead to death.

4. Godly Wisdom Leads To A Harvest

James 3:17-18
17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
18 Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

We all want to be fruitful. We all want to see our lives get better. We all want that the world to be a better place. The only way is thorough godly wisdom.

Godly wisdom is :
- Pure : Motivated by love of Christ not selfish ambition. Are you pure in your motivation.
- Peaceful : It does not retaliate with anger or cursing when persecuted or put down. Do not retaliate when persecuted.
- Considerate : It puts others need much more. Do you look for others needs or only you care about your own.
- Submissive : Willing to obey. Do you listen to your discipler or are you rebellious. We must obey the Bible.
- Mercy : Willing to forgive quickly. Are you holding any grudges? Forgive.
- Impartial : Taking bribes and acting unjustly?
- Sincere : Are you a hypocrite?

Godly wisdom comes from deep Bible study and prayer. It comes from obedience to the Bible. As disciples God has chosen us to be ambassadors to help men make peace with God and with the help of Jesus. We are peace makers. This is a harvest month. Let us all use our godly wisdom and we will definitely meet our goals.

Conclusion

Let us all get involved in studies and help people to make peace with God. Let us teach people correctly to follow the Bible. If we use godly wisdom and repent of our worldly wisdom then our family group will reach the goal.
